Exhibition History:

2023, Growing a Village, Nomu Nomu, Baltimore, MD

The Judment of America pulls from the  archive of Muhammad Speaks, a 1960-1975 NOI periodical—“the most widely-circulated Black-operated newspaper in the U.S. [in the late 60s].”* This artwork pairs headlines of criticism of the U.S. and prediction of its downfall to create a cause and effect messaging. While NOI has many unpopular and harmful stances, much of their political headlines and news reportings are still relevant today. I uplift their message and social efforts through the lens of Black counter-culture.
